Hope On The Eventide Visits Chicago

By now most of you know the story of Hope On The Eventide. I took the photo in May of this year (2022) as part of my A Pic A Day 365 Project. The photo was selected to be displayed in the Gurushots "Very Best of Black and White" exhibition in Chicago, Illinois. I can honestly say that this one hit different for few reasons. Seeing the photo displayed in an art gallery in person was more moving that I could have imagined. To think that "Hope" was only one of about 100-200 photos physically displayed out of over 65,000 entered is just... there's no way to put it into words.

So here's the rundown... We arrived in Chicago on November 3 and stayed at Jaslin Hotel in the Chinatown Neighborhood of Chicago. The accommodations were decent and it was in Chinatown -- which can't be beat for someone who loves a good Asian meal on a regular basis. On November 4th, we were able to see the photograph in gallery and we were able to pick it up and bring it home to Columbus the following day on the 5th. I wish I we had more time to actually explore the sights, sounds, and vibe of Chicago but this was more of a business trip. I got a few shots around town and I've included them below.

On the photo list for next time:

  • Light trails on Lakeshore Drive
  • Nighttime photo of downtown from either Willis Tower or John Hancock Tower
  • Navy Pier at Night
  • Lake Michigan Beaches

That's all for this episode of the Soaring Phoenix Blog.

Peace and be well.
